WhatsApp link generator
A wa.me link opens a WhatsApp chat with a number you have not saved, and an optional ?text= parameter pre-fills the first message. Build one below, copy it, and put it on your site, your email signature or an invoice.
0 characters — WhatsApp messages can be long, but a short opener gets more replies.
This runs entirely in your browser — the number and message are never sent to us.
How the link is built
- 1. Country code, then the number. wa.me wants the full international number with no plus sign and no leading zero — so a local number beginning 0 loses that 0.
- 2. The message is URL-encoded. Spaces become
%20, line breaks become%0A. Encoding the same text twice is the most common reason a link arrives with stray % signs in it. - 3. Nothing is sent until they press send. A click-to-chat link opens the composer with your text already in it. That is what makes it safe to publish — you are not messaging anyone on their behalf.
Where a click-to-chat link belongs
- • A “Message us” button next to your phone number, not instead of it.
- • Email signatures and invoices — the chat opens on the device the mail was read on.
- • Order confirmations and delivery notes, so a customer can reply without retyping an order number.
- • Local listings and directories that accept a website URL but not a chat button.
If you are sending the first message rather than receiving it, a link is the wrong tool: business-initiated messages need an approved template. The industry template library has real, sendable examples, and the platform guides cover approval and pricing.
